CYCLING, HIKING & MOUNTAINEERING

Norwood and the nearby areas offer mountain bikers a variety of trails to explore, ranging from rolling dirt roads and trails through the aspen adn spruce forests to challenging ascents and descents of the high mountain passes.   There are scenic road rides for three season riding.  Mountain biking in the nearby national forest and easy access to the vast and beautiful Uncompaghre Plateau offer trails for all levels.  The surrounding national forest provides great local hikes and camping. 5 of Colorado's Fourtheeners are visible from Wright's Mesa.  Plan a fun day trip with a climb up Lone Cone Peak.  Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen, a good map of the area, and raingear for those unexpected afternoon storms in the summer.  (Source:USDA)
