75th Annual Pioneer Day
This year’s Pioneer Day will be held Saturday, September 24. This is the 75th anninversary of Pioneer Days, so we want to make it special. The theme is “75 Years of Favorite Pastimes.” In addition to the parade and games, we’re planning a social for Saturday evening. We also want to encourage pioneer families to invite their relatives who may no longer live on Wright’s Mesa to visit and participate. The schedule is
- Parade lineup – 9:00 a.m.
- Coronation – 10:30 a.m.
- Parade – 11:00 a.m.
- Dinner – 12:00 p.m.
- Games – 2:00 p.m.
Committee members include Annie Schaffer, Joanne Snyder, Patti Grafmyer (Town of Norwood), Bernice White, and Judy Schutza (Norwood Chamber of Commerce).
Norwood VFW Annual Trout Fishing Tournament Fund Raiser
Norwood VFW Post 9398 will be holding its first annual trout fishing tournament June 11, 2011 at the Ridgway Reservoir in Ridgway, CO. The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.
Prizes
Adult, Senior, and Children Classes!
- Grand prize: $10,000 for tagged fish
- $1,000 prize for largest non-tagged fish
- $500 for second-largest fish
- $250 for third-largest fish
- Children prizes: $100 – $50 – $25
Ticket Prices
Adult/Senior – $35
Children 12 & under – $10
Tickets are available at Sam’s Service, Norwood Hardware and Mountain Village Police Department, or at the Reservoir on June 10 & 11

Monies from the tournament will be used for making handicap-accessible hunting pathways and blinds, Norwood Highschool scholarship program, and supporting Norwood Christian Ranch which provides a retreat for chaplains and families at no cost.
