It’s Fair Time!
The San Miguel Basin Fair & Rodeo runs from July 15-24th. This year the festivities kick off with an old fashioned barn dance on Friday, July 15th from 7:30pm until midnight. On Saturday, July 16th there will be a Freestyle Motocross exhibition at the fairgrounds grandstands from 6-8 pm. Before the exhibition there will be a FMX Pit Party and BBQ from 11am-1pm at the grandstands.

2011 Application Renewal
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a great holiday season. Now that 2011 is upon us it is time to hit the ground running and get this new year rolling. The Norwood Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our new board of directors for the 2011-12 term. The new officers are as follows:

It is time to renew your membership for the new year. Applications are being sent out view email and snail mail, or you can just download it by clicking on the link on the right side of this page under the “Downloads” section.
Your 2011 membership allows you to take advantage of the Paradox Strengthening Communities grant the chamber received. Through the funds provided by the grant the chamber will be providing training to our members in how to utilize websites and social media to drive customers to your business or organization. The training includes group and one-on-one training. As part of the training participants will receive a free domain name and website hosting for a year. If you already have a website you can still receive training on how to better utilize your existing site.
Talk about bang for your buck! For your small membership fee you’ll get a free website designed and set up for you and training on how to maintain it on your own. This is well over a $500 value. So get your membership application and dues in right away and take advantage of this great opportunity.

Noel Night December 3rd
This year’s Noel Night will be held on Friday, December 3rd. Town merchants will be celebrating all day long. Pick up your prize entry card at any Norwood merchant. Get the required number of stickers and drop off your entry at the Fifth Quarter next to the Post Office no later than 6 p.m. Santa will be at the Fifth Quarter from 5-7 p.m. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. Prize drawing at 6:30 p.m. at Fifth Quarter. The community choir Christmas Cantata begins at 7 p.m. at Abundant Life church. Come out and celebrate the Christmas season with your neighbors on Noel Night, Friday December 3rd.
Chamber receives grant – Meeting notification
The Norwood Chamber of Commerce announced that it has been awarded a grant as part of the Paradox Community Trust – Strengthening Communities Fund Grant. The Chamber was awarded $15,000 for the Chamber’s Economic Recovery through Technology program.
“The Economic Recovery through Technology program will help local businesses and organizations build an internet presence” explained Ken Lawrence, Chamber board member and Program Manager. “We will help participants acquire web hosting and a domain name if they don’t already have one, and build an interactive website to help improve their business, all at no cost to the organization. We will also provide training to teach participants how to maintain their website once it is up and running so they can avoid maintenance costs in the future” Lawrence added.
Details of the program will be explained at the next Chamber of Commerce meeting which will be held on Friday, November 12th at noon at the Norwood Christian Church at the corner of Lincoln and Summit near the fairgrounds.

Also at the board meeting nominations will be taken for the 2011 Chamber board. Anyone interested in participating as a member of the board should be at the meeting.
