Photographers - Charlie Fowler

The Late Charlie Fowler
"Charlie Fowler climbed into the unknown, exploring the nooks and crannies of the craggy world until one day that world fell in on top of him.  He was killed in an avalanche in China, near Tibet, in mid November 2006, while trying to ascend a 20,354 foot peak by a route no one had ever done before.  He was 51.

The Norwood resident was born in North Carolina and grew up in Virginia, graduating from the University of Virginia.  He moved to southwest Colorado in 1987 and has worked full-time as a guide.  His photography and articles have been published in many books, magazines, and catalogues.  He coauthored three climbing books with local climber Damon Johnston."  - by Reilly Capps, Telluride Daily Planet 12/29/06
