September Chamber Meeting

septmeeting2

One the agenda are guests Dan Chancelor, Candidate for SM Country Commissioner, Dion Tempfer – Tri-County Health Network (Tri-County Health Network is part of the Colorado Heart healthy solutions and the Colorado Prevention Center Community Health), and our host presentation by Carrie Andrew of the Norwood Public Library.

We will also have updates on Pioneer Day (which is Sept. 29th) and our candidate forum coming up in October.

We also need new board members for the 2013-2014 term so if you or someone you know is interested please let us know. The election will be in October so we need nominees now. We need a president, vice president, treasurer and secretary.  Here are the duties of officers:

•President – The President is the chief elected officer of the Norwood Chamber of Commerce and shall preside at general membership meetings, meetings of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee meetings.

•Vice President – The Vice President shall exercise the powers and authority, and perform the duties of the President in the absence or disability of the President.

• Treasurer – The Treasurer shall safeguard all funds received by the Chamber, and oversee their disbursement.  Such funds shall be kept on deposit in financial institutions, or invested in a manner approved by the Board.  The Treasurer shall present a monthly financial report to the Board.

• Secretary – The Secretary shall keep an official record of all Board of Director and General Membership Meetings where a vote is taken.

That’s the “official” description from the bylaws. In addition to that the president is responsible for running the meetings and arranging guest speakers. Input from the entire board goes into the agenda for each meeting but it is the president’s responsibility to bring it all together. The treasurer keeps the books. We have a laptop with all the chamber data on it. Kelly and our past treasurer Stephanie Williams, have done an excellent job in getting it all organized so the transition should be pretty straight forward and easy to maintain. This is probably the most time consuming position but most needed.

It is a two year commitment that is a great experience for you and benefits the community!

See you next Thursday, September 20th at 8 am at the Norwood Library.
